Isotopes hammer Bees

The host Albuquerque Isotopes banged out 10 extra-base hits — seven doubles and three home runs — to beat the Salt Lake Bees 13-2 on Monday in the opener of a four-game Pacific Coast League series.

The Isotopes exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning, with a rally that included two home runs and four doubles.

The Bees trailed 10-0 before Andy Marte put them on the board with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Salt Lake would add one more run in the ninth, as Drew Heid doubled and then came home on a single by Roberto Lopez.

Salt Lake starter Barry Enright (7-6) took the loss, giving up seven runs on eight hits over 41⁄3 innings.
