A Sandy man died Aug. 6 after crashing into a truck in Grass Lake Township, Mich.

The Jackson, Mich., Citizen Patriot identified the victim as Truman V. Morley, 72. Morley was traveling east on Interstate 94 when he passed a vehicle and crashed into the back of a flatbed truck that had broken down in the median, according to the Jackson County, Mich., Sheriff's Office. The crash occurred about 5:20 p.m. near Mount Hope Road.

The truck appeared to have warning triangles out, the sheriff's office adds in a news release.

The man's wife was a passenger in the car and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Both of them were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff's office adds.

The crash closed eastbound I-94 near the scene for about three hours.
