The Grand County Red Devils are mourning the death of 15-year-old sophomore lineman Sam Woodruff, who died suddenly last weekend.

According to the Moab Times-Independent, Woodruff was found slumped over the tub in the bathroom of his home on Saturday, Aug. 10.

"Woodruff, who was listed as a 6-foot-2, 230-pound lineman for the Grand County Red Devil football team, had participated in football practice the night before and on Saturday morning, and was getting ready to head back to another practice on Saturday evening when he passed away," the newspaper reported.

The results of an autopsy will not be available for several weeks.

The Red Devils will wear Woodruff's No. 62 on their helmets this season in remembrance of their teammate.
