It's nothing new to say that Monument Valley's football field sits in one of the most scenic areas of the country.

In fact, the field once made a list called "Top 10 High School Football Fields to see Before You Die."

For longtime coach Jim Dandy, he's hoping that Monument Valley High will present something desirable to view on the field itself this season.

Dandy is looking to alter his offensive scheme a bit, moving to a Wing-T formation at times this season. A big part of that will be Terrell Blackmountain, who is only a sophomore.

Blackmountain and fellow slot back/running back Keevin Bedonie will assist quarterback Lawrence Atine in moving the Cougars' offense down the field.

"If our quarterback is healthy and sticks with it, he is really good," Dandy said about Atine. "He can run and has got an arm."

Setting up opportunities for the Monument Valley offense will be the job of the offensive line, led by senior Colen Littlehat.

On defense, linebacker Keevin Bedonie and his twin brother Keelin Bedonie, also a linebacker, will join cornerback Sergio Morales to lead the squad. All three players are just juniors. Monument Valley also will benefit from a full year from senior lineman Kyle Adakai, who went down midseason with an ankle injury last season.

"We'll get a little bit better and see what happens," Dandy said. "Most of all, we'll have fun." —

Monument Valley Cougars

ASSIGNMENT • Class 1A South

LAST YEAR • 5-5 overall, 2-2 Class 1A South

KEY RETURNER • Lawrence Atine, sr., QB/S

PLAYER TO WATCH • Terrell Blackmountain, so., RB/OLB

BIGGEST HOLE • Dandy says that the O-line is on the small side, adding, "If we pull them at guard on every play, they're gonna be tired."

NEED TO KNOW • The Cougars had only five seniors a year ago. This year that number has doubled to 10, but the team still is relatively young.
