Utah's coaches say they will wait until they study film to decide key positions on the depth chart, but here are some projections for you based on what was said following Saturday's scrimmage. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said Adam Schulz has the edge on the No. 2 quarterback spot, which isn't a surprise since he has been with the program longer than the other quarterbacks. But keep an eye on freshman Conner Manning. Utah co-offensive coordinator Dennis Erickson really likes his quick release. Erickson said following the scrimmage he'd like to redshirt at least one quarterback, if not two. Quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson said last week he doesn't want to use any quarterbacks in special packages like the Utes have done in the past, so the Utes could easily redshirt both Manning and Brandon Cox if Wilson stays healthy. Freshman quarterback Micah Thomas remains with the defense for now. At running back, James Poole has the edge to backup Kelvin York, but Erickson likes all of Utah's running backs and says he would play any of them without hesitation. Senior Anthony Denham continues to lead for the No. 3 receiver spot. Plenty of questions remain for the defense as Brian Blechen's health and corner Keith McGill's weight continue to be issues. However, McGill is solid enough that he should lock down a spot. Keep an eye on JC transfer Davion Orphey, McGill's cousin who has come on strong. The kicking game is solidified with Andy Phillips going 3-for-4 in his kicks Saturday. - Lya Wodraska
