The Salt Lake Bees scored eight runs on 12 hits and got five RBIs from shortstop Luis Jimenez, but it wasn't enough as they fell 14-8 to the Las Vegas 51's in a Pacific Coast League game Monday night at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

Las Vegas' Matt den Dekker hit two solo home runs and Zach Lutz hit a three-run homer to lead the 51's. Tim Byrdak earned the win while Fernando Cabrera took the loss.

It was the second loss in as many days for Salt Lake (74-56) as the Bees committed three errors and gave up 16 hits.

It was a disastrous start for Salt Lake's Barry Enright. An error, a double, a walk and a three-run homer led to four runs on just two hits before Salt Lake could record the first out of the game. Las Vegas got another three runs in the second inning to knock Enright out of his start after just 12⁄3 innings.

The Bees fought back early, though, with a run in the first inning and four more in the second. Jimenez hit a two-RBI double in the second. He later came around to score on an Efren Navarro single to cut the deficit to 7-5.

Jimenez again came through in the third inning with a bases-loaded triple with two outs that cleared the bases and gave Salt Lake the 8-7 lead.

The advantage wouldn't last long, though, as den Ekker tied the game in the fifth inning when he launched a solo home run to left field, then Ruben Tejada knocked home two runs on a bases-loaded single to put the 51's up 10-8.

An error, a double and another den Ekker solo shot — this time to right field — gave Las Vegas the 12-8 lead after six innings. Single runs in the eighth and ninth innings pushed the lead to 14-8.

Owlz 9, Osprey 8 • In Missoula, Mont., Orem's Stephen McGee reached base on a fielder's choice in the eight inning, and scored the winning run on Jose Rondon's groundout to give the Owlz the Pioneer League victory. —
