They looked a lot like clean-cut Mormon missionaries when they first knocked on the door. But after a few minutes, the conversation about religion abruptly ended when one of the young men pulled a handgun.
Las Vegas police say the two faux elders then went on to pistol-whip the homeowner and rob him.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Tuesday that the incident occurred about 6:20 a.m. on June 27 at the residence near Flamingo and Buffalo roads.
The suspects were described as both being in their early- to mid-20s and wearing white shirts, black pants, black ties and black shoes. One man was about 5-foot-10 and about 200 pounds, while the other was 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds.
As shown in an image captured by a security camera, while both men had dark backpacks typical of missionaries, neither was wearing identifying name tags issued by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to its real missionaries.
