Ogden police have arrested a Canadian man in a weekend burglary where a small fortune in computer and electronic gear was stolen.
Lt. Danielle Croyle said the 54-year-old man, who remained at the Weber County Jail on Thursday, was being held without bail. The suspect is in the United States on a visa and was considered a flight risk, she said.
The break-in occurred late Sunday night or early Monday morning at the New Harmony Homes offices, 194 W. 33rd Street. Police found the doors had been kicked in and an estimated $30,000 to $40,000 in computers, server hardware, telephones and other equipment missing.
Subsequent investigation produced leads pointing to the man, and a search warrant was obtained for his residence near 5000 Apache Way in Ogden. Police arrested the suspect at his home early Tuesday morning.
"So far, the majority of the [stolen] property has been recovered," Croyle said.
The man was booked on suspicion of third-degree felony burglary and second-degree felony theft.
