A 13-year-old Clearfield boy had been upgraded to serious condition Thursday, the day after he fell off his skateboard and was struck by a car.
Layton Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist said Thursday that the boy, whose identity was not released, fell from the skateboard about 7 p.m. Wednesday near 1000 East and 1100 South in Clearfield. He was then hit by a 69-year-old woman driver who did not see him in time to stop.
The boy apparently had fallen onto the road and it took emergency responders 15 minutes to free him from under the woman's car.
He was then flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City in critical condition, but was upgraded to serious Thursday following surgery.
The accident remained under investigation, police said.
