Civics Central: Cities certify primary results; West Jordan looks at graffiti management

Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. Government agencies have until 24 hours before a meeting to post their agendas, so check back as this schedule will be updated. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Bountiful City Council • Will consider authorizing conversion of the Intermountain Power Project from coal to natural gas production of electricity; Tuesday, Aug. 27, 7 p.m., 790 S. 100 East, Bountiful. View the Bountiful agenda.

Cottonwood Heights City Council • Will meet to certify primary election results at 5:45 p.m. in City Council Chambers (Suite 300), followed by 6 p.m. work session in Suite 250, followed by 7 p.m. Council meeting where a contract with the University of Utah for Cottonwood Heights Police Department secondary assignment will be considered; Tuesday, Aug. 27, City Offices at 1265 E. Herriman City Council • Will certify the results of the Aug. 13 primary election at a special Board of Canvassers meeting at 6 p.m. Another meeting will follow at 7 p.m. to interview applicants for interim mayor; Tuesday, Aug. 27, 13011 S. Holladay City Council • Will hold a special closed council session — immediately following the 4:30 p.m. official election canvass meeting — to discuss personnel issues, potential litigation and property acquisition and disposition; Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 4:40 p.m. in Mt. Murray City Council • Will receive public comment concerning an ordinance amending residential single-family medium density to commercial retail for Murdock Hyundai property at 4679 S. Hanauer St., will also receive public comment concerning zone change for properties at 703, 709 and 753 E. Winchester St. from single-family low-density residential to residential neighborhood business; Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of Municipal Building at 5025 S. State St., Murray. Salt Lake City Council • Will hold a retreat open to the public Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the Salt Lake City Public Safety Building, 475 S. 300 East.

Salt Lake County Council • Will receive an update on the park projects funded with a $47 million bond approved by county voters in November of 2012; Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m.; Room 2003, North Building, County Government Center, 2001 S. Sandy City Council • Will hold a special meeting to certify primary election results and then consider a super parameters resolution involving the issuance and sale of $8.8 million in sales tax revenue bonds.
