A ruptured natural gas line led West Jordan police and firefighters to cordon off an area of 7800 South and Airport Road for more than an hour and a half on Friday morning.
By 9:40 a.m., the gas leak had been stopped and the road and a nearby business were reopened, fire officials said.
West Jordan Fire Chief Marc McElreath said the 8 a.m. incident apparently occurred when a construction crew struck a 1-inch gas line. A nearby Jiffy Lube shop was the only business evacuated as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.
McElreath said the danger was diminished due to a morning breeze dissipating the gas, and Questar crews had responded to repair the line.
