A Tremonton man remained in critical condition in an Ogden hospital Friday, the day after he collided with a pickup truck that allegedly ran a red light.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mary Kaye Lucas said the accident occurred about 5 a.m. Thursday when, according to witnesses, a northbound GMC pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old Bothwell man blew through the traffic signal on State Road 102 near the intersection with Faust Valley Road in Box Elder County.
Blayne Cooper, 57, was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle westbound and tried to avoid the crash but slammed into the side of the pickup truck. He was listed in critical condition Friday at McKay-Dee Hospital with numerous broken bones and internal injuries.
The driver of the pickup was unhurt, but his male passenger sustained minor injuries, Lucas said.
The accident remained under investigation, but troopers were investigating indications that the driver may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
The driver also appeared to have been driving on a suspended driver's license.
