Edo Rottini, who began the Taylorsville baseball program and coached Little League and Babe Ruth programs for 54 years, died Thursday at age 81.

Rottini first organized baseball for the neighborhood kids in the 1960s, later started the Taylorsville League, which, at several levels, combined for more than 30 state championships and five AAU championships.

Rottini was a retired employee of the LDS Church and a retired dairy farmer. The Taylorsville Baseball field at 5000 South 2200 West was named for Rottini in his honor.
