Entertainment rewind: A recap of weekend festivals, concerts and events

It's time to rewind and take a look back at the festivals, concerts and events that Utahns participated in this past weekend:

Fighting poverty • A $150-a-head fundraiser for The Global Poverty Project featuring TV and radio host Larry King, "Taken" star Maggie Grace and country singer Josh Kelley drew about 500 people Saturday in Salt Lake City.

Big Ass Show • Music fans turned out to the annual Big Ass Show music festival hosted by local radio station X96 on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. Headliners included Panic at the Disco, Ed Kowalczyk of Live and The Airborne Toxic Event.

Porchfest • The stoops of the University Gardens neighborhood near the U. of U. temporarily transformed Saturday into music venues and art galleries, all part of a hometown street festival called Porchfest.

Krishna temple • The Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple stands atop a hill in rural southern Utah County, its domes more fitting for India than the predominantly Mormon communities that surround it.

Drive-ins go digital • Families, sweethearts and others liken the drive-in to an old pal who hasn't changed much in the past few decades. But nationwide, the outdoor venues are undergoing some pricey, nonelective surgery: switching from film to digital.

The Runway • Salt Lake City looked a bit like New York City on Saturday night as fashionistas gathered for The Runway — a free fall fashion event at The Gateway Mall.
