With victory, Park City's Glasmann tops national high school javelin rankings

Megan Glasmann can certainly throw it.

The 2013 Park City High School graduate, who is set to start her career as a student-athlete at Stanford in the coming weeks, won the women's javelin event in the 2013 Pan American Junior Championships in Medellin, Colombia this weekend.

Glasmann broke the event record, throwing the javelin 53.93 meters, which is translated to 176 feet and 11 inches.

Her throw in Medellin moved her up in the U.S. national high school rankings to No. 1 and also cemented her spot as the No. 2 all-time women's high school javelin thrower.

In her career at Park City, Glasmann shattered several state records. In April, she broke the previous Utah high school record by nearly five feet with a throw of 156 feet, three inches. She won three 3A state titles and two discus championships.

Of the top 11 throws in Utah high school track & field history, Glasmann owns five of them, including three of the top four.

Glasmann also won the 2013 U.S. junior national championship in javelin as well as the 2013 New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
