More than 300 sheep arrived Wednesday at Soldier Hollow in advance of the sheepdog trial championship that takes place there every Labor Day weekend.

The Soldier Hollow Classic begins Friday and runs through Monday.

In the competition, dog and handler teams from around the world gather sheep and herd them down a 600-yard course and into a pen.

The event includes music, food, arts and crafts, animal activities and demonstrations.

Tickets are $13 for adults, $12 for seniors 65 and over, $8 for ages 6-15 and $39 for a family pass. Kids 5 and under are free.
