Utah forecast: Bring on the rain, and the heat

Utah's mid-week forecast might best be summed up by singer-songwriter Jo Dee Messina: "Tomorrow's another day, and I'm thirsty anyway — so bring on the rain."

The National Weather Service predicted cycles of thunderstorms and rain showers to punctuate sunshine and high temperatures in the low- to mid-90s along the Wasatch Front on Thursday. That forecast is the same as Wednesday's, albeit a few degrees warmer.

The same series of storms and precipitation are expected in southern Utah, though daytime highs will climb into the upper-90s both days.

The Utah Division of Air Quality rates breathability at "Green," or healthy statewide, while the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website rates chenopods at "high" and ragweed and mold at "moderate" on its pollen index.

Salt Lake City's high temperature for Thursday was set at 96, up from 92 degrees forecast on Wednesday; Ogden looked for 92 and 89 degrees, respectively; Provo 94 and 90; Logan 92 and 89; Wendover 93 and 88; Duchesne 94 and 79; Cedar City 86 and 84; St. George 99 and 97; and Moab 93 degrees both days.
