Utah forecast: Slightly cooler, wetter heading into mid-week

Cooler temperatures and a new cycle of thunderstorms and rain showers were forecast for Utah from north to south through Wednesday.

The National Weather Service predicted high temperatures on Wednesday along the Wasatch Front would range into the low-90s, down several degrees from last week's record-setting heat. That forecast mirrored northern Utah's Tuesday predictions.

Southern Utahns, too, looked for precipitation and slightly cooler temperatures — though mid- to high-90s expected both days may not seem like much relief from triple-digits readings of last week.

The Utah Division of Air Quality awarded its "green," or healthy breathing grades to the entire state going into the mid-week, while the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma rated chenopds and mold at "high" and sagebrush and ragweed at "moderate" on its pollen index.

Salt Lake City's high for Wednesday was pegged at 93, the same as expected on Tuesday; Ogden looked for 89 and 88 degrees, respectively; Provo 91s; Logan 90 and 86; Wendover 90 and 86; Duchesne 83 and 84; Cedar City 84 and 82; St. George 99 and 97; and Moab 96 and 95 degrees.
