Tuesday on TV: Idris Elba is still great in "Luther"

In the third season premiere of "Luther" (8 p.m., BBC America), Idris Elba returns as homicide detective John Luther, whose genius is matched by his out-of-control temper.

This time around, Luther is investigating a pair of cases. In one, a twisted fetishist is murdering women in a horrific echo of an unsolved case from the 1980s. In the other, he investigates the murder of a man who tormented others on the Internet.

At the same time, he's being investigated for abusing suspects — an investigation that could end his career.

Elba is great. Again. So is "Luther." Again.

The four episodes air tonight, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
