Carbon and health

I have the sad duty of informing Thann Hanchett ("Stewart's ignorance," Forum, Sept. 1) that Rep. Chris Stewart's "gross ignorance on the health effects of air pollution" is by no means an anomaly in today's GOP, which is why I left the party two years ago.

Stewart and other prominent members of his party are also quite ignorant of the health effects of carbon emissions, which is why so many members of the GOP are unwilling to support commonsense conservative solutions to the problem of man-made climate change, such as a revenue-neutral carbon tax.

I'd advise Hanchett to reconsider his vote for Republicans who embrace ignorance.
