Utah Highway Patrol troopers say degraded visibility at dusk Tuesday contributed to a fatal accident involving a minivan and a bicyclist on southwestern Utah's State Road 7.
Braydon Nielsen, 36, of Washington City, was dead at the scene of the crash 5:46 p.m. Tuesday, about 5 miles outside of St. George, UHP said.
Nielsen was in a group of cyclists when he was struck from behind by a westbound Dodge Caravan. No other cyclists were injured.
Nielsen, a registered nurse and triathelete, reportedly is survived a wife and four children.
Troopers said witnesses confirmed it was difficult to see while traveling westbound due to the sun at the time of the crash. The driver, a 58-year-old Cedar City man, was not injured.
UHP said the driver was not suspected of having been impaired.
