Police are investigating a Logan garage fire from Tuesday that they have deemed suspicious.

Investigators from the Logan Police Department believe arson was the cause of a fire at an abandoned property early Tuesday morning at 80 1500 South Place.

Neighbors reported hearing popping sounds coming from the residence at about 3:40 a.m. The neighbors later saw flames in the garage and called 911. No one was in the house at the time.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out before it spread into the adjoining house, but a subsequent investigation found signs of a break-in. Investigators also found a phone book in the garage that had been burned and extinguished itself before spreading again.

Anyone with information about the fire should call Logan Police Detective Brad Hansen at 435-716-9300.
