Women's soccer: BYU to host Utah in game of unbeatens

Provo • There weren't many blemishes for the BYU women's soccer team last year as the Cougars went 20-2-2 and made it to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.

A big one, however, was a puzzling 1-0 loss to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah's first soccer win over BYU since 2007.

The No. 6-ranked Cougars (3-0-0) will finally get their chance for payback on Friday night (7 p.m., BYUtv) when they host 1-0-2 Utah at South Field.

BYU set a home attendance record of 5,108 in a 3-0 win over Nebraska last Friday and another sell-out crowd is expected for the visit from the Utes, who garnered their own attendance record (2,364) last year when BYU visited Ute Field.

The Cougars remained hot after drubbing Nebraska, beating LSU 4-2 on the road in Baton Rouge, La., on Labor Day.

Utah played Cal State Fullerton to a scoreless draw in its last game, despite being outshot 14-11, and have yet to play a home game. Utah plays host to Southern Utah on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Cougars are picked to finish third in the West Coast Conference this season, while Utah is picked ninth in the Pac-12.
