At a town hall meeting in the Avenues where Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, showed great courage in facing his constituency, he correctly observed that the Affordable Care Act legislation is flawed. Yes, it is flawed because Republicans blocked legislation that would offer a Medicare-type coverage for all. Ask anyone on Medicare if they would give it up.

We are the only industrialized nation that does not have some type of government-backed health care. I used to hear that in other countries you had to wait a long time to get care. Here in America you just plain don't get care without insurance.

The Republicans and insurance companies are doing their very best to make this a bumpy ride. The health care issue is a huge debacle. People cannot change jobs or start their own businesses. Entrepreneurism and therefore the economy are stifled. The United States cannot compete on the global market with the way it has been.

All you naysayers, get on board. The road may be rough, but in 10 years we will not even be able to imagine what we did without some kind of universal health care.
