A mattress and a bed have fallen onto southbound Interstate 15, snarling traffic near West Jordan.

A vehicle lost a mattress and box spring bed Sunday evening near 7600 South, the property falling across the carpool lane and the three lanes adjacent to it, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper. About 8:30 p.m., multiple vehicles crashed into the mattress and bed, Hopper said.

One person was taken to the hospital, but only as a precaution, Hopper added.

Traffic is getting by, slowly, in the one lane left open. Crews hope to have the debris clear by about 10:30 p.m.
