The Center Street bridge in Clearfield was closed Tuesday after an irrigation malfunction and heavy rains washed away part of an embankment.
In a press release Tuesday afternoon, city officials said the road and the bridge themselves had not been damaged but were closed in case of further degradation.
The bridge is west of State Street.
Traffic was being detoured to 300 North and to 1700 South.
"We recognize the urgency of this situation, especially given the closure of SR-193 by the Utah Department of Transportation for construction," said Clearfield City assistant manager J.J. Allen.
Allen did not estimate the time the bridge would be reopened.
