Weber State basketball coach honored by MS Chapter

Weber State men's basketball coach Randy Rahe has been selected by the National MS Society Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter as its 2013 Utah Sportsperson of the Year.

Rahe, entering his eighth season as head coach of the Wildcats, will be honored at the chapter's 35th Annual Dinner of Champions on Sept. 18 at La Caille Restaurant in Sandy.

Others receiving awards include Paul Kruger of the Cleveland Browns who was named Sports Professional of the Year, Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton, the Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year and the Lone Peak High School boy's basketball team, named the Team of the Year.

In seven years at Weber State, Rahe has led WSU to three Big Sky Championships and six post-season tournament appearances. He has also been named Big Sky Coach of the Year three times and has coached four Big Sky MVP's, including All-American Damian Lillard, the 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year.
