West Valley City cop awarded top honor for work with children

A West Valley City police officer has been named the Children's Justice Center Rookie of the Year.

Brandon Christiansen received the award, which is given to new professionals who have been working with the Children's Justice Center for two years or less and have displayed exemplary investigative skills and teamwork.

Christiansen was recognized in part for his handling of a difficult a case with "poise, sensitivity and complete professionalism."

The Children's Justice Center is where detectives go to meet and interview children who are allegedly victims of crimes in less intimidating surroundings.
