Evanston, Wyo. • Jess Fly Home prevailed in a three-horse photo finish Saturday to win the $7,510 Wyoming Downs Bonus Challenge Derby.
Sent off as the 7-to-2 second choice in the wagering, Jess Fly Home was ridden by jockey Jesus Virgen and won by a nose over Gitana Azteca. Tim Dream was another nose behind in third.
Owned by Daniel Bybee and trained by Justin Thompson, Jess Fly Home covered 400 yards on a sloppy track in 20.344 seconds.
It was Jess Fly Home's fifth win in 15 starts. The winner's share of $3,530 and bumped his career earnings to $9,585.
Wyoming Downs' abbreviated two-day fall meet the first live racing at the track since 2009 concludes Sunday with an eight-race card.

Honoroso looks like the horse to beat in the $7,010 Wyoming Downs 870 Bonus Challenge Stakes.
Co-owned by Mark Hanson and Richard Gardner and trained by Hanson, Honoroso has won eight of 25 career starts and earned nearly $38,000.
The likely favorite in the five-horse field comes off an easy handicap win on Sept. 1 at Blackfoot, Idaho.
