Evanston, Wyo. • Overwhelming favorite Honoroso raced to an easy victory over four rivals Sunday afternoon in the Wyoming Downs 870 Bonus Challenge.
Sent off at odds of 1-to-5, Honoroso prevailed by 43/4 lengths over BT Fly Boy. A Rose For Waddie was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third.
Trained by Mark Hanson and ridden by Alan Corson, Honoroso covered the 870 yards on a sloppy track in 46.901 seconds.
Honoroso won for the ninth time in 26 career starts and earned $3,645 for owners Jim Hanson and Richard Gardner, pushing his career earnings to $41,329.
Wyoming Downs held two days of live racing this weekend for the first time since 2009. There are plans for a summer meet in 2014, perhaps with as many as 16 days of racing.
