Do you want to have a political discussion without any shouting and name calling? The Committee for Citizens' Communication does.

The group is hosting monthly discussions called the Citizens Evening where civility is required and personal attacks are discouraged.

The next event — a discussion of how Davis County government works — will take place 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Headquarters Library, 133 S. Main St. in Farmington. County Commissioner Louenda Downs will provide an overview and answer questions.

Peter Cannon, a Davis County member of the Utah Republican State Central Committee, said there's been no appropriate place to discuss politics "because everyone gets mad" and discussions that do occur tend to be among like-minded people.

The Citizens Evening is encouraging participation from people of every viewpoint, party affiliation, economic status, faith and age.

This week's discussion is the third in a series. The others covered the proper role of government and what Utahns can do to be ready for potential crises.
