Turned to poop

Poop happens. But now vault toilets are being closed in the Canyonlands, purportedly because "pumper trucks can't get up the rough roads to service these toilets" ("New Canyonlands rule: Pack out your poop," Tribune, Sept. 18).

Really? Could it be another effect of sequestration and on-going underfunding of services in our national parks? Those of us who camp in our national forests and parks have noticed a huge decline in garbage services and clean, properly maintained restrooms in recent years in our national campgrounds.

The ongoing choking off of the federal government by the Republican Party is turning our country to poop.
