Poor Mr. Bell

Re "Bell to step down," (Tribune, Sept. 17):

Poor Lt. Gov. Greg Bell has not saved enough money to retire. I really feel for him while he's making a mere $105,000 per year and the rest of the GOP wants the working class to save for their retirement not making half of Mr. Bell's wages.

Let's not forget his pension and the health care we get to compensate him with. Poor Mr. Bell should have to stoop as low as the working class and live on what we make.

Thank heaven for the Social Security and Medicare that we receive after paying into those programs our working lives and which the GOP call entitlement programs. They're right, we are entitled to them since we fund them on our check stubs.

So, Mr. Bell, it is hard for the lower class or working class to feel sorry for you.
