Move the state prison? There is one reason — and only one reason — for this ridiculous notion even to be raised. When the current location was thought of as the ends of the earth, and the land out there in Bluffdale wasn't worth a dime, nobody cared.
But now, with a whole crowd of well-connected real estate developers practically foaming at the mouth in their eagerness to get their hands on that land (to give us even more strip malls and McMansions, no doubt), and the Legislature pretty much on the developers' payroll, it's taken seriously.
It's really nothing but another 1-percenter land grab.
