Toronto FC will announce the name of its new general manager Friday, but it won't be Garth Lagerwey.

The Real Salt Lake GM was linked as a possible candidate for the opening, but a source said Lagerwey is staying put for now. The Toronto Sun also reported Lagerwey, who is under contract through 2014, could not be "pried away" from RSL.

The former goalkeeper has made a name for himself in Salt Lake's front office, helping to rebuild the franchise from a league bottoms dweller to one of Major League Soccer's most consistent winners.
