Plans for tonight: The circus is in town!

• The Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus returns with its "Built to Amaze!" show, for a five-day, nine-show run, starting tonight, at EnergySolutions Arena, 301 W. South Temple. Tonight's show starts at 7. (The show repeats: Friday at 3 and 7 p.m.; Saturday at 11 a.m., 3:30 and 7 p.m.; Sunday at 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.; and Monday at 7 p.m.) Tickets, from $20 to $90, available at Smith's Tix.

• The fifth annual Salt Lake City Film Festival starts tonight, with the documentary "Medora," at the Broadway Centre Cinemas, 111 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City. Tonight's show starts at 7. (The festival continues through Sunday at the Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South, and Brewvies Cinema Pub, 667 S. 200 West, Salt Lake City.) Tickets are $10; $5 for matinee shows; $50 for an all-inclusive pass; available at the SLCFF website.

• Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company starts the celebration of its 50th Anniversary Season with "The Start of Something Big," at the Jeanne Wagner Theatre, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 7:30 (and repeats at the same time Friday and Saturday). Tickets are $35, at ArtTix.

• Electronic "downtempo" act Little People performs at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 South, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: RoboCLIP, Mr. Vandal. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $10, at Smith's Tix or 24Tix.
