Time for Obama to get mad

The patience of many Obama supporters is wearing thin over what they refer to as Obama's aloof detachment. Syndicated columnist Maureen Dowd recently touched upon this phenomenon ("President has lost his ability to connect," Tribune, Sept. 19) in a column that chastised Obama for many transgressions but failed to call him out for his excruciating inability to express even the slightest bit of anger over the multitude of right wing attacks upon not just his policies but his character.

According to Dowd, many top Democrats who used to "consider Obama as one cool cat, now muse that he's one weird cat." Arguably this disillusionment stems from the president's unreasonably cool responses to his detractors.

Few presidents have taken as much punishment from their opponents without retaliating with some blows of their own. Although some might admire this behavior, others, politicians as well as citizens, believe enough is enough when it comes to Obama's turn-the-other cheek attitude.

Joanie Summers, pop diva of the '60s, said it quite well in her smash hit "Johnny Get Angry." Only now it's time for Barry to get angry and for Barry to get mad and above all it's high time for Barry to give the House the biggest lecture it's ever had.
