A bicyclist died Sunday night after he and minivan collided in Sandy.

The 58-year-old man was riding his bike south on 700 East when the minivan, going north, turned west to enter a condominium complex near 8275 South, said Sandy Police Sgt. Jon Arnold. The cyclist struck the rear passenger side of the minivan about 8:11 p.m.

The man died at the hospital, even though he was wearing a helmet, Arnold said.

Police are waiting until they can notify his family before identifying him. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
