Cedar City • Southern Utah running back Raysean Martin has earned national All-Star honors by College Sporting News for his play at Sacramento State. He is one of five players honored by CSN this week.

Martin, a freshman running back from Tennyson High School in Hayward, Calif., helped lead the Thunderbirds to the 24-21 overtime win. He carried 26 times for 131 yards and scored all three SUU touchdowns. He also completed a 33-yard pass for a first down during the team's game-tying drive at the end of regulation.

Martin's three touchdowns are the most by an SUU running back since Major Gray had four in a game against UC Davis in 2009.

Other Football Championship Subdivision players honored for their play last weekend include Stephen F. Austin running back Gus Johnson, Southern Illinois linebacker Bryan Presume, Gardner-Webb defensive tackle O.J. Le'iatua Mau and Richmond defensive back Wayne Pettus.
