A water main break has forced Logan city to shut down 600 North between 200 West and 400 West.

The city reported the road closure in a tweet about 4:20 p.m. Monday. Mike Roundy, with the city water department, said at about 5 p.m. that they had not determined what caused the break, but the area has older pipes and corrosive ground.

People who live on the residential street are being allowed to return home, so long as the repair equipment is not blocking their driveway, Roundy said. The water did not damage any property, he added.

Crews expect the road to remain closed until about 9 p.m.
