The new CBS sitcom Mom (Monday, 8:30 p.m., Ch. 2) isn't the sort of show that's going to get a lot of great reviews. It comes to us from Chuck Lorre, whose other sitcoms include "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" - neither of which got unqualified love from critics when they debuted.Critical opinion, overall, has changed for the better on the former; the later has just become more despised. Not that it matters - both shows are big hits.And "Mom" looks like it will be, too.As for yours truly, I like it. A lot. Because I laughed. A lot.And because I really like Anna Faris and Allison Janney.Faris stars a Christy, a waitress whose life isn't going that great. She's the single mother of a teenage daughter a(Sadie Calvano) and a preteen son (Blake Garrett Rosenthal). She's a recovering addict with a troubled love life. She's the daughter of a longtime addict, Bonnie (Janney).And Christy is not happy when Bonnie re-enters her life.This is sort of a recovery comedy, and it's funny. Like when Christy remembers watching her mother snort cocaine out of a shag carpet and Bonnie says she was just being "thrifty."With Faris and Janney on board, "Mom" could be the next big comedy hit in Lorre's incredible run of success.
