A man died Friday night after falling and hitting his head at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

The 71-year-old man was standing in the north section of the stadium when he fell, hit his head on the concrete and began bleeding, according to University Police Lt. Arnold Lemmon. The man fell just after the beginning of BYU's game against Middle Tennessee State.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where a doctor pronounced him dead.

Lemmon said investigators do not know what caused the man to collapse. The man's fall was not considered suspicious by police Friday night.

Police did not released the man's name Friday. Lemmon said the man was attending the game with his wife.
