West Valley City • The National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks on Monday assigned goaltender Igor Bobkov to the Utah Grizzlies, their ECHL affiliate.

Bobkov, 22, is a Russian native who spent his first full professional season with Norfolk in the American Hockey League last year. He went 11-17 with a 3.13 goals-against average for the Admirals.

In 2011, Bobkov helped the Russian junior team to a 5-3 come-from-behind win over Canada in the gold medal game of the World Junior Hockey Championships.

The Grizzlies open the season Oct. 18 against Idaho at Maverik Center.
