In the Book of Mormon we read about the government system under which the people lived. Their judges (elected officials) and laws were made by the voice of the people. Each man and woman had an equal vote. The minority was in subjection to the majority.
In Utah, our caucus system is contrary to these principles. In a caucus system, a handful of people a minority chooses the names that will be on the ballot. Afterwards, the rest of us get to vote (in the general election). Under this system the minority rules.
If we truly believed in the principles taught in the Book of Mormon, we would seek to do away with the caucus system in Utah. One way of doing this would be to sign the petition for Count My Vote. There may be other ways of doing this. But, ultimately, we need to do away with the caucus system.
