More than 800,000 federal workers remain at home, tourists are still locked out of museums and national parks, and virtually all of us are trying to assess how the federal government shutdown that began Tuesday affects us.

The political and economic effects of the shutdown will be explored Thursday at 12:15 p.m. in a live Trib Talk video chat moderated by Jennifer Napier-Pearce.

Natalie Gochnour, associate dean of the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business, BYU political scientist Quin Monson, and Tribune Washington correspondent Thomas Burr are featured guests.

You can join the discussion by sending questions or comments to the hashtag #TribTalk on Twitter and Google+ or you can post them in the comments section below this story. The live video will appear at the top of this page a few minutes before the chat begins.
