Two men wounded Wednesday afternoon in a drive-by shooting in West Valley City are expected to survive.

Police Sgt. Jason Hauer said Thursday that detectives believe the two victims, 25 and 30, were wounded in what they suspect was a gang-related incident. He said detective won't be able to confirm that suspicion until arrests are made, but added that the two victims have known gang-affiliations.

The two men were walking about 4 p.m. by a home near 3840 Christopherson Drive (4480 South) when a green-colored, four-door compact car pulled up.

Witnesses said someone in the car apparently said something that attracted the pedestrians' attention and the two victims tried to run away.

Someone in the vehicle opened fire, shooting one man in the neck and shoulder, and hitting the other in the leg, Hauer said.

Hauer said police were still searching for the two suspects involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at 801-840-4000.
