Several freeway construction projects this weekend could create significant delays of up to an hour in some places for crowds traveling to such events as LDS General Conference and the Utah State-BYU football game.
Key road work includes:
I-15 in Layton • Delays of up to an hour on Saturday and 25 minutes on Friday night are expected as I-15 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction near Hill Field Road for bridge work from Friday at 8 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.
The Utah Department of Transportation is urging drivers to use a combination of U.S, 89 and Interstate 84 as alternate routes to avoid the work area.
I-15 in Lehi • Southbound Interstate 15 will be reduced to two lanes between 2100 North and Main Street for bridge maintenance from Friday at 8 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m. UDOT said it expects delays of up to 45 minutes on Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening.
I-215 in Salt Lake City • It will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 700 North and to two lanes in each direction between I-80 and SR 201 from Friday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. Crews will be completing bridge maintenance at several locations.
I-80 in Parleys Canyon • It will be reduced to one lane in each direction Sunday through Thursday. Crews are continuing installation of a drainage system along the freeway between the I-215 on-ramp at the mouth of the canyon and Exit 132.
