Not for one second would I argue that Lifetime's The Witches of East End (Sunday, 8 and 9 p.m.) is a great show. It's sort of silly, actually. Rather ridiculous, even.That said ... I like it. I enjoyed the pilot episode, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.Because sometimes television can just be fun.As you can no doubt discern from the titled, this show is about witches. Modern-day witches who, it turns out, are a lot older than they look. But that's getting too close to a spoiler, so we'll stop there.As "Witches of East End" begins, Freya (Jenna Dewan Tatum) is about to marry the hunky, super-rich Dash (Eric Winter). Freya thinks something supernatural is going on with her, but her sister, Ingrid (Rachel Boston), is not convinced."You only have one super power, and it's your breasts," Ingrid says.Their mom,Joanna (Julia Ormond) is a witch. So is her snarky sister, Wendy (Madchen Amick), who shows up under some rather unusual circumstances.There's murder and mayhem and magic and curses and plots and secrets and soap opera-ish romance and drama and pretty cool special effects.It's sort of a mess at times, but a very entertaining mess."The Witches of East End" is based on a series of novels by Maggie Friedman, so at least we know this is headed somewhere. And it could be fun watching it as it goes.
