2A girls' tennis: Manti sweeps doubles to claim state title

Manti swept the doubles titles to claim the Class 2A girls' tennis state title Saturday.

Amanda Naylor and Arie Naylor defended their title at No. 1 doubles, while Abby Simons and Bailey Simons claimed the No. 2 doubles championship at Liberty Park.

The two titles helped the Templars finished with 11 points, two ahead of Waterford and three more than Wasatch Academy.

Wasatch Academy sophomore Michelle Pritts won the No. 1 singles title with a 6-3, 6-1 win over San Juan sophomore Mary Royer.

Waterford senior Grace Peterson won the No. 2 singles crown with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Wasatch Academy junior Sarah Roston.

Delta senior Johanna Banda captured the No. 3 singles championship by defeating Waterford sophomore Erin Roach 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. —
