In all of the debate about the federal government shutdown, I didn't read or hear much about the fact that after months of negotiations, the Affordable Care Act was passed and signed into law in March 2010. That is now over 3 1/2 years ago.
One of the items the GOP insisted on during the negotiations was that the new law not take effect for 45 months until January of 2014. Obviously they had hoped in that time to either eliminate or change the new law. Well they didn't get it done, so they need to get over it and move on.
Innocent people are now without services and livelihoods while the GOP pouts and carries on like an obnoxious child. As for our six elected members of Congress, it's time to man up, boys, and do your job by getting the government up and running and to keep it running.
If you don't like the Affordable Care Act then change it through the proper course of action by congressional vote, not by holding the American people hostage.
